About The Position

Possess specialized knowledge of and relating to lawn and garden such as live plants, botanicals, tools, supplies and accessories. Be able to learn and utilize the Epicor Eagle retail computer system. Assist with all aspects of the Lawn and Garden Department. This includes but is not limited to greenhouse and store aisles relating to lawn and garden. Position is responsible for assisting in product presentation, merchandising and daily operations for Lawn and Garden Department. Listed is a representation of some of the minimal duties and functions that must be mastered in order to be considered for this classification. This is not all-inclusive and is open to any related duties and functions that may be assigned. The Lawn and Garden Specialist is under the direction of the Store Management, General Manager and Owners.

Requirements

Possess specialized knowledge of and relating to lawn and garden such as live plants, botanicals, tools, supplies and accessories.
Be able to learn and utilize the Epicor Eagle retail computer system.
Must be physically able to safely lift up to 65 lbs repetitively.
Must be able to lift greater than 65 lbs with assistance.
Must be able to withstand the outside temperatures during all seasons and like to work outdoors.
Must be able to daily maintain a professional appearance with uniform, name tag and personal hygiene.
Carry and professionally utilize a radio and respond to customer service as directed.
Must be able to sucessfully complete company certification in operation of forklift and, as required, other materials handling equipment (must be 18 years of age or older).
Ability to work with limited supervision.
Must be willing and able to learn new concepts and ideas.

Responsibilities

Communicate with the Store Management for additional daily tasks to be accomplished.
Provide “Ace Helpful” customer service.
Ability to facilitate, direct and assist staff in the accomplishment of assignments in a professional and effective manner.
Coordinate department marketing, public relations, education and customer service working with the management.
Answer all customer service calls as directed.
Answer incoming customer calls for service.
Assist customers with service and sales in all departments when needed but specifically in the Lawn and Garden Department.
Order and maintain all plant, bush, tree and associated products relating to lawn and garden department.
Daily watering of live plants and botanicals.
Proficient in the safe handling and operation of propane heaters.
Proficient in daily maintaining assigned aisles and/or areas.
Knowledge of inventory and pricing structure as authorized and/or approved by the Owner(s).
Maintain and print bin tags and signage as needed.
Proficient in processing overstock.
Proficient in stocking and fronting merchandise.
Able to assemble and display merchandise.
