As a Lawn and Garden Shop Mechanic, you will be working in the shop (with occasional work required outside in varying weather conditions) to repair, conduct maintenance, and address any customer concerns or questions regarding lawn and garden equipment. Requirements

  • Experience diagnosing, maintaining and repairing lawn and garden equipment, specifically mowers, and a willingness to expand that knowledge.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • Valid, clean driver’s license preferred.
  • Strong communication skill and self-motivated.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality is vital. Must attend work regularly and to arrive at work on time. Failure to do so detrimentally affects team morale and productivity.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic Service Technician or Mechanic certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic diagnostics and repairs on lawn and garden equipment and established products as requested by the Service Manager and Service Writer.
  • Prepares all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments.
  • Maintains current product knowledge of John Deere and competitive products.
  • Maintains condition of shop, vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment.
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
  • Check and report any shortages and malfunctions to the Service Manager or Service Writer.
  • Complete dis-assembly and inspection, as efficiently as possible, so parts may be ordered and machine work can be scheduled promptly.
  • Maintain records and account for all time, parts, and supplies used in repairing and servicing both customer and dealership equipment.
  • Report to Service Writer any additional work required to ensure proper operation and safety of equipment.
  • Make a point to thank every customer and represent the dealership as a professional Service Technician at all times.
