Overview: Talcott’s Summer Internship Program is designed to provide students with a dynamic and rewarding opportunity to immerse themselves in real-world challenges. As part of this ten-week fast-paced summer program, interns will engage in meaningful projects guided by training in market dynamics and industry fundamentals. In addition to hands-on learning, Talcott’s internship program offers a comprehensive schedule of educational workshops, peer networking events, and direct exposure to senior leadership, designed to support interns’ personal and professional development. The selected Intern shall work on a hybrid schedule in our Hartford, CT. office. Our selected Legal Intern will gain exposure regarding how insurance, reinsurance and annuity transactions operate within the regulatory frameworks of the State Department of Insurance (DOI) FINRA and the SEC. The intern will work collaboratively with multiple business stakeholders to support department priorities for continuous improvement. This role will expose an intern to Talcott’s use of AI-enabled tools within the department to improve efficiency and consistency of workflows.

Requirements

  • Current college student candidate presently enrolled
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency with research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Professional judgment and discretion in handling sensitive information
  • Interest in legal innovation, AI enabled research tools, corporate growth, and/or regulated financial services
  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to accurately summarize insurance concepts
  • Comfort working with emerging technologies and ambiguity
  • Solid proficiency in MS Office and other related technologies

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or experience in a business-related curriculum is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Support initiatives designed to improve transaction readiness for mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships by assisting in the development of a “diligence-ready” posture thru research outputs and risk summaries
  • Support the creation of reusable legal content optimized for technology-assisted use (e.g., issue briefs, annotated references, checklists and decision guides)
  • Provide input for controls related to AI-assisted work (e.g., documentation standards, review checklists, and repeatable validation)
  • Assist with implementing practical AI governance practices for accuracy and verification of workflows while ensuring analyses and summaries can be supported
