About The Position

The Adjunct Faculty Member reports to the Law School's Associate Dean for Faculty & Curriculum. Some of the responsibilities of this role are: Teach a course on Healthcare Fraud : This course provides students with an in-depth examination of the legal framework governing fraud and abuse in the U.S. healthcare system. Students will explore the statutory and regulatory landscape, with particular emphasis on the Anti-Kickback Statute, the Physician Self-Referral Law (Stark Law), the False Claims Act, and the Civil Monetary Penalties Law. This course will analyze how these laws impact different stakeholders operating within the healthcare system and will do so by studying relevant statutes, regulations, agency interpretations, case law, enforcement actions, and compliance scenarios. Students will gain practical insights into risk mitigation techniques, regulatory interpretation, and the role of whistleblower litigation as a government enforcement tool. The adjunct faculty member will not be asked to attend department meetings. She or he will be expected to spend some time outside of class to address questions related to the class. Time taught to be determined by the applicant's schedule.

Requirements

  • JD required.
  • Required degree must be completed by the start date.
  • Must be an active member of the Utah Bar
  • The applicant must have knowledge of the topic and significant teaching experience.
