About The Position

Purpose of this position The purpose of this position is to implement laundry procedures in order to operate the laundry department in a cost-effective, efficient manner and to safely meet resident needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements. Delegation of authority Authority is delegated to the individual in this position to: · Implement laundry procedures to meet resident needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements. · Participate in the monitoring system for the laundry department. · Notify the supervisor when supplies are needed. · Notify the supervisor when equipment needs repair. · Notify the supervisor when linen and resident clothing need repair. This position reports to: Laundry Supervisor

Requirements

  • Must be able to pass background check, physical and drug screen.
  • Must be available to work holidays and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Follow oral and written instructions.
  • Follow material safety data sheets (MSDS)/safety data sheets (SDS).
  • Follow schedules for the laundry department.
  • Follow laundry procedures in accordance with facility policy.
  • Ironing duties as assigned.
  • Follow waste disposal procedures in accordance with facility policy.
  • Properly use and care for laundry equipment.
  • Adjust water temperature valves to maintain required temperatures.
  • Use laundry supplies properly.
  • Operate automated laundry solution dispensing system.
  • Handle clean and soiled laundry appropriately.
  • Identify and report garments or linens in ill repair to supervisor.
  • Distribute clothing to resident rooms in accordance with the theft loss program.
  • Identify and report to supervisor any equipment malfunction.
  • Identify and report to supervisor areas in poor repair.
  • Follow infection control procedures through proper handling, storage, washing and transporting of all garments and linens.
  • Perform all duties assigned in an effective, timely and professional manner.
  • Follow infection prevention and control procedures at all times.
  • Follow Resident Rights policies at all times.
  • Observe all facility policies and procedures.
  • Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner.
  • Assume accountability for all data contained in the employee handbook.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by his/her supervisor.
  • Report for work in neat, clean attire and consistently present an appropriate professional appearance.
  • Report for work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.
  • Consistently work cooperatively with residents, residents' representatives, facility staff, physicians, consultants and ancillary service providers.
  • Coordinate daily laundry services with nursing supervision when performing routine assignments in resident living areas.
  • Agree not to disclose residents' protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the supervisor.
  • Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor no matter how minor they may be. Report such occurrences for the shift they occur.
  • Report suspected resident abuse immediately to the Administrator.
