About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a Laundry Technician. This role involves performing day-to-day tasks to maintain a clean environment within a healthcare organization. The technician will work independently or as part of a team, ensuring the safe and appropriate handling of laundry, including sorting, washing, chemical application, and temperature control. The position requires adherence to infection prevention guidelines for contaminated laundry and proper handling, storage, and distribution of clean laundry according to organizational and healthcare industrial standards. Depending on the location, responsibilities may include collecting dirty linens, distributing clean linens, washing, drying, folding, and labeling. The role also involves storing and securing laundry supplies and equipment and requires the use of proper protective equipment (PPE).

Requirements

  • Ability to use a computer
  • Depending on location, must have a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior cleaning experience in a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of materials, equipment and methods used in cleaning

Responsibilities

  • Perform day to day tasks to maintain a clean environment in a health care organization
  • Work independently or work in a team environment ensuring that use of equipment, methods, and techniques to handle laundry safely and appropriately such as; sorting, washing, any chemical application, or water temperature
  • Complete assigned tasks based on that locations standard processes and policies
  • Follow infection prevention guidelines to handling contaminated laundry according to organizational and healthcare industrial laundry standards
  • Participate in laundry collection and sorting, as well as the handling, storage and distribution of clean laundry properly based on that locations standard processes and policies
  • Collect dirty linens (including but not limited to gowns, sheets, towels, blankets, and personal clothing) from wards, rooms, and medical offices
  • Distribute clean and disinfected linens
  • Complete some of the following tasks based on that locations standard processes and policies: washing, drying, folding linens, sort and fold clothing, and complete the proper labeling process for the designated health care organization
  • Store and secure laundry supplies and equipment of a healthcare organization
  • Use or wear all proper protective equipment (PPE) as outlined in that locations standard processes and policies
