Position Summary
Every effort has been made to identify the essential functions of the Laundry Assistant position.  The Laundry Assistant is responsible for daily operation of laundry: collection, washing, drying and distribution of Members' clothing and linen for all units.

Requirements

• Willing and able to work overtime and weekends as required by the position and/or approved by management.
• Have reliable transportation to and from work.
• Must be clean and neat in appearance and have a “friendly” service-oriented personality.
• Abide by work-related / job procedures and organization policies; (refer to the Employee Handbook).
• Education:  High school diploma preferred.
• Skills:  Reasonably strong, capable of standing for long periods of time.
• Must meet the general health requirements set forth by Friendly Home.
• May be requested to assist in the evacuation of Members or perform other procedures to protect the safety of Members, visitors and team members during emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Collects and distributes laundry to units, physical therapy.
• Washes, dries, irons, spot removal and labels when necessary, personal laundry for Members.
• Washes, dries and irons linen for units.
• Keeps records on laundry processed and distribution.
• Maintains laundry area and equipment in a clean and sanitary condition.
• Duties may also include performing housekeeping duties in assigned areas: example, maintaining Member rooms and/or areas in an aseptic condition.
• Participates in in-service education and safety programs.
• Performs other duties as required by supervisor or by Administration from time to time.
