A Laundry Aide in a skilled nursing facility ensures residents' clothing and linens are cleaned, sanitized, and distributed, maintaining hygiene standards and a pleasant environment. Key responsibilities include collecting, sorting, washing, drying, folding, and delivering laundry, while adhering to infection control protocols and operating machinery safely.

Requirements

• Ability to understand and follow instructions, operate laundry equipment, and follow safety procedures.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.
• Previous experience in a laundry or housekeeping role is often preferred, but not always required.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collect soiled linen and personal clothing from resident rooms and designated areas.
• Sort, wash, dry, iron, fold, and distribute linens and personal clothing items.
• Follow infection control policies for handling, cleaning, and sanitizing linens, especially contaminated items.
• Clean dryer lint filters and maintain machinery (washer/dryer) in good working order.
• Distribute clean linens to nursing units and return personal laundry to resident rooms.
• Mend torn clothing or linens as needed.
