About The Position

At General Motors, our product teams are redefining mobility. Through a human-centered design process, we create vehicles and experiences that are designed not just to be seen, but to be felt. We’re turning today’s impossible into tomorrow’s standard —from breakthrough hardware and battery systems to intuitive design, intelligent software, and next-generation safety and entertainment features. Every day, our products move millions of people as we aim to make driving safer, smarter, and more connected, shaping the future of transportation on a global scale. The Role The Launch Electrical Diagnostician supports the Global Artisan Innovation Center (GAIC) in achieving strong Electrical First Time Quality (EFTQ). This role focuses on vehicle processing, electrical end‑of‑line (EOL) diagnostics, and issue resolution during new program launches. The Diagnostician will support PTB, lab checks, build events, and early plant integration for VIP/SDV programs.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of experience with automotive electrical systems, diagnostics, or EOL testing
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting electrical faults using diagnostic tools (e.g., GDS2/MDI)
  • Experience supporting program management activities such as readiness reviews, build event preparation, cross-functional coordination, or tracking issue closure against launch timelines
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to root‑cause complex issues
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to translate technical detail into clear, concise updates
  • Self‑motivated and detail‑oriented, with strong decision‑making capability

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an automotive manufacturing plant environment (Electrical or Plant Floor Operations)
  • Exposure to DVT, AVT, EOL test systems, or electrical engineering principles
  • Experience supporting UAW‑represented environments or plant repair teams
  • Understanding of manufacturing requirements and how they impact the build process
  • Working knowledge of GMS and support of BIQ4 deliverables

Responsibilities

  • Support new program launches (VIP/SDV) by diagnosing electrical issues, driving solutions, validating fixes, and ensuring launch readiness throughout build events.
  • Lead EOL troubleshooting using diagnostic tools (GDS2/MDI) and partner with Electrical IRT, GCA, and repair teams to drive issues to closure.
  • Use plant systems (GSIP, MERS, PRTS, SPPS) to document failures, track containment actions, and provide accurate status updates.
  • Analyze and correlate results across EOL test systems (Flash, Static, AVT, DVT) to improve electrical performance and EFTQ.
  • Lead or support disconnect workshops, lessons learned, standardized work updates, and repair knowledge documentation.
  • Partner with Launch Managers to support program readiness reviews and communicate electrical first time quality and top concerns.
  • Train and mentor repair team members and new diagnosticians on diagnostic tools, troubleshooting techniques, and repair documentation.
  • Provide daily/weekly reporting on EFTQ performance, EOL pass rates, and key electrical issues requiring action.
