Maersk Ground Freight (MGF) offers transportation services like FTL (Full Truckload), LTL (Less Than Truckload), brokerage, cross-border trucking, groupage, and sortation hubs, connecting Maersk or Customer warehouses or depots or cross-dock/consolidation/deconsolidation facilities through a robust network led by best-in-class operations and technology. This integrated network will service multi-channels like B2B, B2C, B2B2C, e-commerce, direct to store, dropship, returns, and more, leveraging asset-based, asset-light, and non-asset models. The Last Mile Home Delivery Operations Manager will report directly to the assigned Regional Director but will work closely with several other team members throughout all stages of the dedicated delivery service. He/she will be responsible for the execution of the independent delivery service providers including but not limited to, route monitoring, contractor management/recruiting, and customer service to name but a few key areas. The LM Operations Manager is responsible for daily planning, organizing, controlling, administering, and managing the over-all operations of delivery and returns to the DC. Routine Job performance Provide the necessary communication and support between customers, suppliers and independent contractor carriers regarding operations activity to ensure a smooth delivery process and superior service levels. Manage the planning and coordination in executing order assembly and load out of product for assigned routes. Plan the efficient utilization of delivery team capacity ensuring budgetary targets and route/load efficiency objectives were met. Work with the Regional Director to achieve financial objectives by supporting the adherence to and monthly reviews of monthly P&L targets. Support the P&L by operating the business within budgeted guidelines through scheduling, routine expenditures, and analyzing any variances to the plan. Manage contractual agreements and key performance indicators (KPI) set forth by the client. Use personal judgment and initiative to develop effective and constructive solutions to challenges and obstacles in performance activities and procedures. Swiftly resolve complex escalations pertaining to Independent Carriers and customer service by reporting on issues to ensure complaints were resolved to client/customer satisfaction. Utilize company operating systems for the daily execution of planned activities and administration. Manage the recruitment and training of independent contractor carriers and their employee team members, as well as monitoring assigned staff performance and growth progress. Participate in weekly organizational meetings to report and evaluate the quality of service received, and providing solutions for continuous improvement. Ensure driver safety & compliance, and the host facility requirements were met. Perform other essential duties as required to meet and exceed operational goals.

Requirements

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Excellent mathematical skills, with the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to analyze technical and scientific journals as they pertain to the business and market
  • Strong problem solving and reasoning abilities to deal with a variety of problems and come up with creative solutions
