About The Position

Advantech Industries, Inc. is a family-owned manufacturing company based in Rochester, New York, specializing in CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding, and assembly services. The company, founded in 2002, serves multiple industries, including defense, medical, and aerospace, and operates out of a 250,000-square-foot facility. We are currently seeking an individual to collaborate with us as a Laser Set Up/Operator. The Laser Set Up/Operator is responsible for the set up and observation of lasers to verify the accuracy of the machine settings and to detect the malfunction or out-of-tolerance operation, by using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers. Additionally, the Laser Set Up/Operator is responsible for the loading, unloading of the laser and manual deburring of parts.

Requirements

  • A HS Diploma or GED
  • 5 years of previous Laser equipment set up and operation experience, fiber laser experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of cut conditions
  • Previous experience with lens maintenance and routine
  • Thorough operational knowledge and skills specific to Laser equipment with the ability to calculate and set machine controls either manually or by entering commands
  • Responsibility for taking care of routine machine maintenance and keeping work area in neat condition
  • Ability to read drawings and blueprints, being familiar with common machine tools and mathematics
  • Alignment with the requirements and principles of the Advantech Quality Management System and ISO 9001:2015
  • Skills to operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently
  • Capacity to handle changes in business operations and adjust to new situations
  • Preparedness to stand for extended periods, lift heavy items, and operate equipment
  • Ability to work with limited supervision

Responsibilities

  • Set up and observation of lasers to verify the accuracy of the machine settings
  • Detect the malfunction or out-of-tolerance operation, by using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers and calipers
  • Loading and unloading of the laser
  • Manual deburring of parts
