About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laser Engineering Intern to join our Laser Product Engineering team for Summer 2026. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience working with CO2 lasers, and work alongside industry professionals, and contribute to meaningful projects that support our team and company objectives.

Requirements

  • Rising Junior (completed 2 years by start) or  Rising Senior (completed 3 years by start)
  • Majors: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics
  • Open to currently enrolled students or those who have graduated within one year of the internship start date.
  • Basic hands-on lab skills. Experience with optics and diagnostic equipment such as infrared detectors, oscilloscopes, function generators, and data acquisition systems a plus. The successful candidate will also demonstrate willingness and self-motivation to pursue and quickly expand knowledge within these fields where experience is lacking.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Team-oriented but able to work independently when needed.
  • Adaptable and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and time management.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office. Proficient with MS Excel and Power Point.
  • Internship Duration: 10 – 14 weeks.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant coursework or extracurricular experience in lasers/optics is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the engineers in support of all assigned engineering projects including NPI (New Product Introduction) and CIP (Continuous Improvement Project) activities.  Primary work includes performing detailed lab experiments from hardware setup to the final reporting.
  • Prepares technical reports summarizing findings and recommending solutions to technical problems, including a final presentation reviewing work done during the internship
  • Assist in the selection and set-up of specialized test equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized lab environment. 
  • Work with calibration department to maintain equipment calibration for assigned work area.
