About The Position

Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group, Department of Otolaryngology, is seeking a Laryngology Nurse Practitioner. A Laryngology Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an advanced practice provider who specializes in the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of disorders of the larynx (voice box), throat, and upper airway. Working collaboratively with Laryngologists (ENT physicians), speech-language pathologists, and other healthcare professionals, the NP provides comprehensive care to patients with voice, swallowing, airway, and related head and neck conditions across outpatient and procedural settings. Key Responsibilities Clinical Care Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including medical histories and physical examinations focused on laryngeal and upper airway conditions Diagnose and manage disorders such as: Dysphonia (voice disorders) Vocal fold nodules, polyps, and cysts Laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) Chronic cough Dysphagia (swallowing disorders) Airway stenosis and tracheostomy care Perform or assist with in-office procedures (e.g., flexible laryngoscopy, stroboscopy, injections, tracheostomy changes, minor procedures as credentialed) Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including imaging and laboratory tests Develop and implement individualized treatment plans Prescribe medications and therapeutic interventions within scope of practice Collaboration & Coordination Collaborate with otolaryngologists, speech-language pathologists, and multidisciplinary voice and swallowing teams Coordinate referrals and continuity of care Participate in pre-operative and post-operative patient management Patient Education Educate patients and families about diagnosis, treatment options, and preventive care Provide counseling regarding voice hygiene, reflux management, airway care, and post-surgical recovery Documentation & Compliance Maintain accurate and timely medical records Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and institutional policies Participate in quality improvement initiatives Qualifications Education & Certification Master’s or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program Board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult-Gerontology NP (AGNP), or Acute Care NP Active state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner DEA registration (if applicable) Experience · Experience in primary care, hospital medicine, pulmonology, gastroenterology, or surgical services · Prior exposure to ENT or head and neck care (not required). Skills & Competencies Advanced knowledge of laryngeal anatomy and voice/swallowing physiology Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills Proficiency in performing and assisting with ENT procedures Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills Ability to manage complex airway and voice-related conditions Commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based care Compensation & Benefits The compensation range listed is for starting base compensation only and is adjusted based upon years of experience and/or faculty rank: $110,000 - 150,000. This amount does not include variable compensation or extra productivity and is subject to the individual department compensation plans. Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult-Gerontology NP (AGNP), or Acute Care NP
  • Active state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner
  • DEA registration (if applicable)
  • Experience in primary care, hospital medicine, pulmonology, gastroenterology, or surgical services
  • Advanced knowledge of laryngeal anatomy and voice/swallowing physiology
  • Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
  • Proficiency in performing and assisting with ENT procedures
  • Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
