The Large Market Account Executive Team Leader will provide day-to-day leadership, mentorship, and support to a team of Account Executives (AEs) serving large market clients. This role is responsible for helping AEs effectively marshal Aon resources, drive retention and growth, and improve client outcomes across the portfolio. The Team Leader will work in close partnership with the LMS (Large Market Strategic) Account Executive Leader and other key collaborators (Finance, New Business, Specialty, and Solution Lines) to embed guidelines in client management, ensure fee rigor, and support profitable growth.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Account Executive or client leader in the large market segment
  • Demonstrated track record in client retention, growth, and strategic account management.
  • Strong collaboration skills with experience working across matrixed organizations.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of industry experience.

  • Prior leadership, team lead, or informal coaching/mentoring experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a direct, ongoing relationship with assigned Account Executives to develop a highly connected and collaborative partnership.
  • Act as a strategic advisor and escalation point for AEs on complex client situations, renewal strategies, and new business opportunities.
  • Help AEs marshal appropriate Aon resources (subject matter experts, specialty teams, analytics, broking, operations, etc.) to support retention, growth, and enhanced client service.
  • Support the development of AEs through regular coaching, feedback, and joint client planning, with a focus on building confidence and capability in managing large, complex accounts.
  • Raise AE awareness of Aon’s full suite of products, services, and specialty expertise ensuring appropriate introductions to specialists and product leaders as needed.
  • Promote cross-solution collaboration and ensure AEs understand and can articulate Aon’s differentiated value to clients and prospects.
  • Lead Strategic Account Reviews (SARs)
  • Drive a disciplined Strategic Account Review process for key large market clients.
  • Identify opportunities for deeper penetration, cross-sell, and collaboration across solution lines and geographic teams.
  • Ensure client plans are documented, actionable, and aligned with both client priorities and Aon’s growth objectives.
  • Support Monthly Portfolio Reviews
  • Fee discipline and pricing decisions
  • Client retention metrics and drivers
  • New business and pipeline management
  • Portfolio profitability and margin improvement opportunities
  • Partner with Aon Finance, New Business leaders, and other stakeholders on monthly portfolio reviews.
  • Monitor and support:
  • Work with AEs to address any at-risk accounts and pipeline gaps, ensuring proactive action plans are in place.
