About The Position

At the University of Florida, we place a high value on the role our Veterinary Technicians play in helping clinicians train the next generation of veterinary students. Step into a role where your clinical expertise, problem solving instincts, and passion for animal care truly matter. As a Large Animal Veterinary Technician, you’ll be at the heart of a fast paced teaching hospital—supporting veterinarians, guiding students, and delivering hands on care to some of our most critical and complex patients. What Makes This Role Exciting • High impact clinical work: From routine exams, emergency interventions to advanced diagnostics, you’ll be directly involved in lifesaving care and specialized procedures. • A teaching hospital environment: Share your knowledge, mentor veterinary students, and help shape the next generation of clinicians. • Cutting edge equipment & skills: Operate and maintain advanced monitoring, surgical and diagnostic tools while training others to use them confidently. • Client facing influence: Be a trusted point of contact for Clinicians, House Officers, clients and rDVMs—coordinating care, communicating updates, and supporting smooth admissions and discharges. • Operational leadership: Play a key role in charge capture, inventory management, and maintaining quality standards. Why You’ll Love It Here You won’t just follow protocols—you’ll help elevate them. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a collaborative, teaching focused environment, enjoys variety in their day, and wants to make a meaningful difference in both patient outcomes and student learning. We offer a wide range of excellent benefits to our employees in addition to providing exceptional facilities for providing patient care. As an academic teaching hospital, we are fortunate to have access to the latest innovations in veterinary healthcare. We know you care about your own pets as much as we do our patients, so we offer discounts on treatments, procedures, and even food for all our employees’ pets. We encourage you to join our team and grow with us to make a difference.
