About The Position

Summary: Under the guidance and supervision of the Director of Diversity & Language Services, the Coordinator provides language services coordination with the pool of Per Diem Interpreters, Spanish interpretation and translation and community outreach. Interpretation and translation services are provided to community organizations, businesses, groups, or individuals under contract with Ibero.   • Have at least 40 hours of Medical Interpreter Training or other Interpreter training from an education-accredited organization.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience providing community services coordination.
  • Fully bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Proficiency working with software such as Microsoft Office.
  • A valid N.Y.S. driver’s license.
  • Ability to meet work schedule needs, and periodically travel for training, seminars.
  • A combination of training and experience other than the specified, if judged to be adequate for the job, may be accepted by the President and CEO

Responsibilities

  • Identify language services needs within Ibero and in the community.
  • Coordinate language services to improve communication with non-English speakers and increase services access.
  • Participate in community outreach events and committees promoting Ibero language services.
  • Maintains documentation of language services provided.
  • Provide professional and accurate Spanish/English interpretation and translation services to assigned community organizations, businesses, groups, or individuals.
  • Interpret the dialogue or presentation to deliver the intent of the speaker as it relates to the topic at hand.
  • Arrive at appointments on time either in person or virtual or earlier as required by the service requestor.
  • Report to the immediate supervisor the time spent providing the interpretation after completing each service.
  • Provide individual supervision and support to the pool of per diem interpreters.
  • Manage pool of interpretation subcontractors across the Ibero footprint.
  • Attends formal and informal training sessions in/outside the agency.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
