About The Position

Landside Operations Manager - Mt Vernon, IN This is an exempt level position. Position Summary: The Landside Operations Manager reports to the Location Manager.  This position is responsible for the safety, quality and efficient management of ARTCO’s Mt. Vernon landside operation terminal.  This position must coordinate all activities between barge repair, boat repair, barge cleaning, and pier stevedoring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred with 5 or more years of experience in operations management.
  • Previous management experience required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong sense of leadership with the ability to impact and influence others.
  • Proven ability to work within a team based work environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to lead meetings.
  • Some Domestic Travel may be necessary
  • This position requires the ability to work in a variety of conditions such as an office environment, indoors/outdoors, hot/cold weather as well as physical demands such as standing, kneeling, and sitting for prolonged periods of time, climbing stairs/ladders and the ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and comply with USCG and OSHA regulations.
  • Must have the ability to manage a growing and diverse workforce.
  • Lead teams of repair crews, stevedore crews, barge cleaning crews.
  • Manage training requirements for each work group’s jobs being performed.
  • Enforce policies, procedures and guidelines in a consistent manner.
  • Hold and participate in meetings and ensure company information is communicated effectively.
  • Provide timely and effective feedback to crews to increase performance and accountability
  • Ensure incidents are investigated properly and equipment is maintained within the proper guidelines.
  • Coordinate with dispatch for customer barge needs.
  • Comply with environmental permits and maintain environmental records.
  • Project management for construction projects.
  • Manage equipment effectively in the operation
  • Use and create metrics to evaluate business effectiveness and profitability
