About The Position

Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts. Handle guest complaints ensuring guest satisfaction. Maintains standards of quality and cleanliness throughout daily assignments. Observes all house and safety rules, departmental procedures, and security procedures. Assist with inventories as scheduled. Follow maintenance program and cleaning schedule. Other duties as assigned. Plans and executes small scale landscaping operations and maintains grounds and landscape of Corporate Office grounds, as well as State College Williamsburg Square (Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn and Springhill Suites) and Fairfield Inn.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent vocation training
• Previous guest relations and/or training.
• Any trade license/certificate from the state of hotel’s operation.
• Minimum two years’ experience as a landscaper.
• Working knowledge regarding: landscaping supplies and equipment; health codes; architectural codes; structural codes; building code improvement; national/local fire codes; proper chemical handling and disposal; power and hand tools, etc. as it relates to the landscaping trade; local mechanical codes; OSHA codes and best practices.
• Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guest, management, and co-workers to their understanding.
• Ability to provide legible written communication.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to interpret manufacturer’s literature for installation, preparation, use and upkeep of various materials and products used throughout the property.
• Clean driving record

Responsibilities

• Plans and executes small scale landscaping operations and maintains grounds and landscape of Corporate Office grounds, as well as State College Williamsburg Square (Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn and Springhill Suites) and Fairfield Inn.
• Participates with Landscape Laborer in preparing and grading terrain, applying fertilizers, seeding and sodding lawns, and transplanting shrubs and plants.
• Plans lawns, and plants and cultivates them.
• Plants new and repairs established lawns, using seed mixtures and fertilizers recommended for particular soil type and lawn location.
• Locates and plants shrubs, trees, and flowers selected by property owner or those recommended for particular landscape effect.
• Be available for snow removal outside of normal working hours.
• Mows and trims lawns.
• Trims shrubs and cultivates gardens.
• Cleans grounds.
