About The Position

Summary: Cultivates and maintains landscaping and grounds surrounding campus buildings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Cares for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing and removing thatch, trimming and edging around flower beds, walks and walls.
Plants flowers, pulls weeds, repairs structures and maintains outside of buildings as needed.
Sweeps walkway of debris and cuts down tree limbs that are posing a danger.
Rakes, mulches and prunes the grounds as needed.
Decorates gardens with stones and plants.
Plants seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees and shrubs.
Uses gardening tools to apply mulch for protection.
Attaches wires from planted trees to support stakes.
Utilizes hand-operated construction equipment.
Follows standard operating procedures for assigned tasks and projects; follows all safety protocol.
Attends training as required.
Deploys for emergency response due to inclement weather, i.e. snow and ice, tornado or other crisis.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Rudimentary ability to utilize hand-operated construction equipment.
Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds and kneel/bend/stoop and perform strenuous labor for extended periods of time.
