About The Position

Sentry Construction (Madison, Alabama) is seeking an experienced Landscaper to support the maintenance and enhancement of multiple properties. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of landscaping and lawn care duties using hand and power tools. Responsibilities include sod installation, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, leaf removal, bagging debris, and assisting with sprinkler system maintenance. The Landscaper plays a key role in ensuring all grounds are safe, well-maintained, and visually appealing.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED); 2 years of landscaping or groundskeeping experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment, including lawnmowers, leaf blowers, and hedge trimmers.
• Reliable transportation.
• Valid driver’s license preferred but not required.
• Basic knowledge of pest management and lawn care preferred but not required.
• Dependable and punctual.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Working knowledge of horticulture/gardening preferred but not required.
• Ability to safely lift 50 pounds.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions for extended periods.
• Must pass a background check.
• Must have valid/legal identification; E-Verify employer.

Nice To Haves

• 2 years of landscaping or groundskeeping experience

Responsibilities

• Perform general grounds maintenance, including lawn mowing, walkway cleaning, fountain upkeep, and plaster application.
• Conduct minor repairs and routine maintenance as needed.
• Follow proper procedures for operating groundskeeping equipment.
• Apply pesticides safely to control pests such as mosquitoes, wasps, and ticks.
• Efficiently apply fertilizer to promote healthy growth of lawns and landscaping.
• Trim and maintain grounds using hand tools, power tools, or riding mowers, including edges around walkways, flower beds, and walls.
• Monitor grounds to ensure a clean, safe, and visually appealing environment.
• Participate in training to enhance skills and knowledge in assigned duties.
• Maintain landscaping by removing weeds and dead plants.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
