Landscape Designer

About The Position

Imagine meeting with a homeowner who knows they want their yard to feel "fresh and welcoming," but they can't quite picture it yet. That's where you come in. Barnes, Inc. is hiring a Landscape Designer who enjoys working with people, organizing details, and turning ideas into a clear plan the team can bring to life. In this role, you'll spend part of your time out in the field taking photos, notes, and measurements-then you'll bring it back to the office to build plans and customer-ready presentations. You'll walk customers through design options, help them make decisions, and keep the process moving with timely follow-ups. You'll also play a project coordination role by tracking revisions and approvals, communicating details to estimating and installation teams, and reviewing project daysheets daily to stay on top of progress and next steps. We're not looking for a landscape architect. We're looking for someone who's comfortable on a computer, communicates well, and is excited to learn. You should be confident with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel) , able to do basic math for measurements and quantities, and able to stay organized while juggling multiple projects. AutoCAD is a plus but not required , and plant/landscaping knowledge is helpful-but we'll train the right person who shows up with a strong work ethic and a willingness to grow. This is a year-round position, and winter is part of the story here too. When snow events hit, this role is expected to support snow removal . That means winter work can include early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays depending on weather. During winter months, landscape/design work may be limited to up to ~30 hours per week , with remaining hours assigned to snow and other winter work as needed. If you like steady, year-round work and don't mind being part of a snow response team, you'll fit right in.
