About The Position

At J and R Property Services, we are redefining excellence in property maintenance and throughout Central New York. Guided by innovation, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to quality, we transform outdoor spaces into lasting works of craftsmanship. As we continue to expand our hardscape division, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Landscape Crew Lead to oversee and work alongside a team of Landscape Technicians on residential and commercial projects. This role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge, and the ability to safely and efficiently complete projects within allocated timeframes while maintaining high-quality standards and client satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in landscape installation required.
  • Experience leading or supervising a crew preferred.
  • Ability to operate skid steers, loaders, and trucks with trailers safely and confidently.
  • Strong understanding of general landscape installation practices.
  • Ability to read and follow job specifications and notes via tablet.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Clean and professional appearance.
  • Ability to lift 50–75 lbs repeatedly.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, lift, and work on feet for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, including sun, heat, and rain.
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed during peak season.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Landscape Technician.
  • Willingness to train and develop the right candidate into certification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and work alongside a team of Landscape Technicians.
  • Provide clear direction and ensure tasks are completed efficiently and correctly.
  • Motivate team members and recognize individuals who excel in performance and workmanship.
  • Maintain a productive, positive, and safety-focused job site environment.
  • Safely and efficiently complete landscape installation projects within the allotted time and budget.
  • Ensure jobs are completed without exceeding estimated labor hours whenever possible.
  • Maintain quality control and uphold company standards on every project.
  • Communicate professionally with clients on job sites.
  • Address client questions or concerns and relay important information to management when necessary.
  • Safely operate skid steers, loaders, and other landscape equipment.
  • Safely drive company trucks with trailers in accordance with all traffic laws and company policies.
  • Perform basic equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
  • Read and understand daily job notes, specifications, and plans using a company-supplied tablet.
  • Ensure job documentation and communication are accurate and up to date.
