About The Position

A Business Development Manager is responsible for pursuing new sales while growing and maintaining customer relationships. This position will develop relationships, anticipate customer needs, trouble shoot problems, and close sales. All employees are expected to carry out the company’s purpose and demonstrate our core values. The Business Development Manager must reside in Central Ohio due to territory coverage.   As a Business Development Manager at Schill Grounds Management, you must be able to perform the following essential functions of the job:

Requirements

  • Must reside in Central Ohio due to territory coverage
  • Prior outdoor sales experience in the landscaping industry is required
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record to meet fleet insurance standards
  • Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience
  • 3-5 years of business-to-business sales experience
  • Strong computer skills in the Microsoft Suite and CRM systems
  • Strong communication, written, and formal presentation skills
  • Proficiency in closing the sale
  • Self-motivated, proactive, results-oriented professional with an ability to work with minimum direction
  • Strong project management and customer relations skills
  • A positive attitude and a knack for working in a cooperative team environment
  • Must be extremely organized
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an outgoing personality

Responsibilities

  • Organize a plan, research, and identify potential clients for landscaping and snow removal services.
  • Attend networking functions and events promoting our brand and image in the highest professional manner while seeking out new business opportunities.
  • Identify prospective clients, seek out, and build relationships with key decision-makers.
  • Use proven sales process to uncover new opportunities.
  • Work with team members to develop proposals that speak to prospects pain or problems.
  • Use proven sales techniques, negotiate through stalls, objections, and other buyer behavior to reach a decision quickly.
  • Attend industry functions within the region and or state and stay aware of market trends.
  • Be a thought out leader on current landscaping trends and practices.
  • Maintain regular communication (face to face, phone, text, email) to ensure prompt and professional follow-up and follow-through.
  • Provide proper instructions with new contracts for our service teams. Including documenting all property notes in CRM.
