About The Position

Waste Connections is looking for a Gas Technician Trainee to join our team at our JED Landfill located in St. Cloud, FL. Pay Range: $22-$30+/hr. DOE + $5000 stay on bonus paid out in increments over one year Successful candidates are those seeking field service work in an environment of operational excellence and accountability. Requirements

  • Ability to follow established procedures with minimal amount of direct supervision.
  • Ability to be coachable and learn how to navigate the landfill in a safe manner.
  • Work outdoors for most of the day.
  • Maintain a good attitude and a hard work ethic.
  • Be willing to perform a variety of tasks on any given day.
  • Experience operating hand and power tools.
  • Ability to handle objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to collect data, interpret data and draw valid conclusions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with leachate collection systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine system inspections and repairs on the landfill.
  • Work with Lead Landfill Gas Technician to ensure compliance.
  • Maintain relationships with landfill employees as well as consultants and vendors.
  • Using gas analyzer to monitor gas wells and probes.
  • Performing maintenance on pneumatic pumps, including the removal of pumps in wells, inspections, and repairs.
  • Monitoring the amount of liquid in gas wells.
  • HDPE pipe fusion.
  • Provide on-call response to gas collection system.
