About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: The Environmental Compliance Technician I - TSDF provides operational field support to the environmental compliance team. The incumbent analyzes soil, groundwater, and/or atmospheric samples to determine if pollutants are present. The Environmental Compliance Technician I - TSDF implements and supports appropriate corrective action, if necessary, performs environmental compliance audits and risk assessments, and maintains records, reports, manuals, and documentation in accordance with established procedures.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and testing procedures

  • Understanding of EPA, OSHA regulations, and ISO programs.
  • Knowledge of hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal facility (TSDF) and field and industrial services pr
  • Knowledge and understanding of current health and safety, industrial hygiene, and field and industrial services practices.
  • Ability to conduct studies and prepare sound recommendations; conduct research, analyze information and data, and present findings in a concise format.
  • Knowledge of Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act (WISHA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
  • Valid driver's license may be required for some positions.
  • 0 - 2 years of relevant work experience

Responsibilities

  • Supports leachate management by monitoring water levels and pump functionality, taking samples, and/or compiling compliance report data.
  • Performs inspections, maintains logs, and supports compliance meetings to identify and track deficiencies and ensure all inspections are completed.
  • Ensures compliance with the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) and other facility water requirements (to include groundwater and wells) by taking necessary samples, conducting inspections, performing necessary maintenance, and recording daily/weekly/ad hoc readings.
  • Coordinates with outside vendors or laboratories for testing, supplies and reporting.
  • Assists with annual and monthly compliance reporting.
  • Provides audit support for the environmental compliance programs.
  • Maintains and updates environmental compliance records, logs, and reports in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains and monitors permitted bulk waste holding pads to ensure compliance with permit requirements.
  • Repairs or replaces any damaged items on bulk waste containers to ensure compliance with permit requirements.
  • Provides operational field support to the environmental compliance team.
  • Other non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary.
