About The Position

DCI Engineers, a nationally recognized structural and civil engineering consulting firm with over 20 offices across the U.S., is currently seeking a full-time Survey Technician to join our team in Spokane, WA. This position is primarily field-based, supporting a wide range of survey projects through hands-on data collection and site work. While the focus is in the field, DCI’s “field to finish” approach provides exposure to the full project lifecycle. The ideal candidate brings strong field surveying skills, a collaborative mindset, and an interest in continued professional growth. Survey Technicians work under the guidance of a Professional Land Surveyor, gaining valuable experience to support their path toward professional licensure, should they choose to pursue it. Your work will focus on field data collection, documentation, and coordination to support accurate, client-ready deliverables. Requirements

  • 2+ years of field surveying experience.
  • Experience with survey equipment, including GPS, robotics, and total stations.
  • Ability to climb steep terrain and carry up to 80 lbs. for extended periods.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and juggle multiple tasks or projects.
  • Desire to provide excellent service and build strong client relationships.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the Pacific Northwest.
  • Clean driving record with the ability to drive company or rental vehicles.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate of Applied Science degree in Geomatics.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Geomatics.
  • Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) license or interest in pursuing LSIT, CST, and/or FAA Part 107 drone pilot license.
  • Familiarity with Carlson field equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with Senior Land Surveyors and fellow Survey Technicians.
  • Independently collect field data for boundary, topographic, and ALTA/NSPS land title surveys under the direction of a Senior Crew Chief.
  • Operate survey equipment including GPS, robotics, and total stations.
  • Perform field survey calculations, including rotations and translations.
  • Take clear, organized, and legible field notes and photographs.
