About The Position

As a Land Planning & Development Intern, you will be part of a world class homebuilding experience and you will see first-hand how we develop land parcels for future home building - from initial planning and feasibility studies to final project completion. This is a full‑time, Monday–Friday position running for 10–12 weeks during Summer 2026

Requirements

  • Are currently pursuing a degree in civil engineering, construction management, urban planning, real estate development or a related field
  • Prior experience or coursework in land use, urban planning and/or civil engineering
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Thrive in a team-oriented environment and value collaboration.
  • Experience in using various computerized systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to move about work location.
  • Ability to drive/travel as needed.
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs.
  • Ability to observe details at close range and communicate information so others will understand.
  • Ability to transport and move up to 20 lbs and move as needed (for roles in Construction/Customer Service/IT/Land/Marketing/Sales/Studio).
  • Periodically works in outdoor weather conditions (for roles in Construction/Customer Service/Land/Sales).

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Land Planning team as they work with local and state municipalities, public and private related agencies, planning and zoning departments to entitle acquired projects. Assist with plan submittals and review process, support scheduling, meeting deadlines and specific processes to ensure timely completion of the entitlement process.
  • Assist the Land Development team to determine what needs to be done to the dirt (grading, demolition, excavation) of the acquired and entitled project prior to home construction. Contract, schedule and oversee dirt preparation (grading, demolition, excavation) of the dirt. Contract, schedule and oversee in-ground utility installation, roadway pavements, concrete home pads and sidewalks.
  • Understand how we identify potential risks associated with land development projects and develop mitigation strategies. Assist in the pre-development budgeting for new communities.
