About The Position

The land management officer is responsible for the Nations land inventory and classification program, land disposal program through sale, lease or exchange, and land acquisitions. Additional responsibilities involve coordination with federal, state and local governments on land management issues. Land Managers and workers, maintain and develop forests, rangelands and other natural sites for conservation or resource development

Requirements

  • Applicant must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • A demonstrated ability to read maps as well as tape measures and property descriptions.
  • This individual must be able to physically lift at least 50lbs.
  • Required to work around domesticated livestock.
  • Must be able to set priorities, organize, coordinate work efficiently, and establish good personal relations with other office workers and work independently and creatively.
  • Must be able to communicate well, both verbally and written format.
  • Must be at least eighteen years of age, possess a valid driver license and be insurable.
  • All new hires will be required by the Kaw Nation to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Failure to pass the pre-employment drug screen or background check will lead to withdrawal of the job offer or termination of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planting and harvesting
  • Perform landscaping and weeding tasks
  • Tend to animals
  • Build and mend fencing
  • Cut, rake, and tether hay
  • Perform basic equipment maintenance and cleaning
  • Ability and/or willingness to learn how to run and operate heavy equipment.
  • Assist with other general labor tasks as needed
  • Other duties maybe assigned and required by the Land Management Director.
