About The Position

We are a leading, national consulting firm that provides compassionate, full-spectrum emergency management services including planning and preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation services to the public and private sectors before, during and after a natural disaster or catastrophic event. Our mission is to provide compassionate consulting services to local, state, federal, and industry clients, active in disaster response, recovery, and preparedness. We will be on time, on target, and on budget with the services aligned to the evolving threats and hazards facing our nation. The position will be guided by ACDC’s Corporate Values Platform in all activities. The Land Management Facilitator will work with local entities to facilitate community meetings, coordinate communications between various local, state and federal organizations, and engage with community groups and others that utilize the resources.

Requirements

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and public presentation skills.
  • An awareness and sensitivity to different cultures and the ability to integrate with local communities to build trust and ensure inclusive outreach efforts.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Skill in collecting, managing, and documenting data accurately, including using databases and preparing detailed reports.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental laws, regulations, policies, land acquisition laws, and zoning/planning regulations.
  • Familiarity with sustainable land stewardship practices, habitat restoration techniques, erosion control, and soil and water conservation measures.
  • Knowledge of project management principles, budget administration, grant proposal writing, and contract negotiation.
  • Understanding of property records management, real estate principles, land rights (including mineral rights), and legal instruments like easements and deeds.
  • A bachelor's degree in natural resource management, environmental science, forestry, community development, or a related field is required.
  • 3-4 years of experience in community outreach, natural resource management, project management, or working with diverse stakeholders.
  • 5-6 years of experience using knowledge of forestry operations, local ecology, conservation practices (e.g., prescribed burning, invasive species control), and environmental regulations.
  • 3-4 years of experience using tools and technology such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software for mapping and data analysis, Global Positioning Systems (GPS) for navigation, and environmental monitoring equipment.
  • 3-4 years of experience in fieldwork, including walking on uneven terrain and operating field equipment/vehicles.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without employer sponsored visa is required. We are not able to employ those located outside of the US.
  • Must pass company and any applicable client background check and reference check upon offer of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • A higher degree in natural resource management, environmental science, forestry, community development, or a related field is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in community outreach, natural resource management, project management, or working with diverse stakeholders is valuable.
  • 7+ years of experience using knowledge of forestry operations, local ecology, conservation practices (e.g., prescribed burning, invasive species control), and environmental regulations.
  • 5+ years of experience using tools and technology such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software for mapping and data analysis, Global Positioning Systems (GPS) for navigation, and environmental monitoring equipment.
  • 5+ years of experience in fieldwork, including walking on uneven terrain and operating field equipment/vehicles.
  • Local (within reasonable daily commuting distance) to the Asheville, NC area.
