About The Position

Job Summary The Lamination Lead is directly responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the Lamination Department while serving as a working lead. This role supports facility goals regarding safety, quality, and on-time delivery of products from one department to the next. The Lamination Lead sets the example for safety, quality, productivity, and teamwork while coordinating department activities to ensure parts move through lamination according to the production schedule.

  • Working knowledge of lamination or fiberglass manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Effective problem solving, team leadership, and interpersonal skills used to influence others to accomplish objectives.
  • Working knowledge of processes and procedures required to perform all functions within the department.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products required.
  • Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature occasionally.
  • Must be able to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds when necessary.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position.

Nice To Haves

  • 1–2 years of progressive leadership experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of lamination or fiberglass manufacturing processes preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain uniform methods of operation for the Lamination department.
  • Lead daily morning production huddles to communicate priorities, safety reminders, and production goals.
  • Maintain awareness of the production schedule and track the progress of parts within the department.
  • Coordinate workflow to ensure parts are completed according to the scheduled timeline.
  • Communicate department status, needs, and production updates to employees and the Production Supervisor.
  • Maintain and update department metrics including Smartsheet reporting and departmental communication boards.
  • Support and monitor training progress to ensure team members are meeting training marks and developing required skills.
  • Read and understand product orders to ensure proper lamination and construction of parts.
  • Inspect parts to ensure they meet quality standards before moving to the next department.
  • Work with the Production Supervisor to promote quality programs that reduce scrap and defects.
  • Work to achieve a “zero defect” mindset in manufacturing operations while keeping delinquencies at or below facility goals.
  • Participate in the implementation of new manufacturing processes, products, and system technology to meet facility goals.
  • Assist with coordinating the delivery and disposal of chemicals and supplies used in the department.
  • Set the example for safety awareness and ensure all employees follow company and OSHA safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Assist with training, coaching, and mentoring team members in lamination processes and department standards.
  • Support all safety initiatives and maintain a high awareness of safety in the facility.
  • Operate in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws.
  • Follow instructions of Supervisor.
  • Perform lamination duties as required as a working lead.
  • Any other duties as assigned by management.
