Job Description: Lamination/Gunrunner/FRP - Applies and rolls initial layers of fiberglass and resin to hulls and decks. Applies and rolls fiberglass and resin to hulls and inserts metal reinforcing pieces. Key Responsibilities: Identify the different hulls and decks that are to be laminated. Use rollers, brushes, and fiberglass guns. Eliminate bubbles in fiberglass once it has been applied. Use small hand tools, including scissors, razors knife, etc. Light sanding and grinding of parts when necessary. Must be flexible and willing to cross-train within the department. Keep the work area clean and orderly. Follow instructions of the Manager/Supervisor/Lead Inspects all parts so that they are complete and up to quality standards. Any other duties as assigned by management. Must comply with all OSHA and safety procedures. Requirements Tools used in this occupation include but are not limited to: Personal Protective Equipment- Safety Glasses, half-mask respirator, Tyvek protection suit. Hand Tools- Rollers, Fiberglass chop gun, sanders, and scissors. Working directly with fiberglass and resin. Be able to use and maintain a variety of hand tools. Knowledge, Education, and Experience include but are not limited to the following: Must be able to work effectively individually or with a team. Be able to use and maintain a variety of hand tools. Some Knowledge of FRP and composites Be able to complete basic installations. Knowledge of production processes and quality control. Physical Requirements: Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature. Must be able to bend at the waist and knees and stand for extended periods. Must be able to see and identify small quality defects. Position requires repetitive arm, hand, and shoulder movements. Fine motor skills required for multiple tasks. Must be able to climb into and out of the interior of boats. Must be able to wear proper safety equipment, including a respirator when necessary. Must be able to lift 50 pounds when necessary. This is a safety-sensitive position.
