Position Summary: The Lake Maintenance Crew Member plays a crucial role in maintaining the safety and aesthetics of the lake. Under the direct supervision of the Lake Operations Manager, this position’s primary function is to maintain cleanliness and debris-free conditions in the lake and its grounds, ensuring that the lake remains a safe and pleasant place for residents and their guests.

Requirements

  • Ability to arrive at the worksite on time.
  • Proficiency in swimming to handle accidental entry into the water.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing.
  • Ability to operate electric and gasoline-powered vessels.
  • Proficiency in using various types of hand tools.
  • Possess the physical capability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy objects, bending, stooping, and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Demonstrate a proactive approach in identifying and addressing maintenance needs and potential safety hazards.
  • Work effectively as part of a team, cooperating with others and contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members, residents, and guests in a professional manner.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and practices related to lake maintenance activities is desirable but can also be learned on the job.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 2 or more years of related landscape maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

  • Debris Removal: Regularly inspect the lake and its surroundings to identify and remove any debris, such as branches or litter, that may pose safety hazards or detract from the overall appearance of the lake.
  • Landscaping and Grounds Maintenance: Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and aesthetics of the lake’s grounds, including mowing lawns, trimming shrubs and trees, and keeping walkways and paths clear and well-maintained.
  • Equipment and Facility Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance and repair of equipment used for lake maintenance, such as boats, docks, and other related tools and machinery.
  • Safety and Security: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations established by the Lake Operations Manager to ensure the safety of residents and guests.
  • Report any safety concerns, maintenance issues, or incidents that occur within the lake area to the Lake Operations Manager promptly.
  • Team Collaboration: Work cooperatively with other members of the lake maintenance crew to efficiently carry out tasks and achieve the desired outcomes.
  • Emergency Response: Be prepared to assist in emergencies, following the instructions and guidance of the Lake Operations Manager and other designated authorities.
  • Request emergency services (Fire/Police/Emergency Medical) through the 9-1-1 system when necessary and provide accurate information and assistance as required.
  • Communication and Reporting: Maintain effective communication with the Lake Operations Manager and other team members, providing updates on completed tasks, ongoing projects, and any issues that require attention.
  • Assisting Residents/Guests: Assist residents or guests who encounter problems or difficulties while using the lake, offering guidance and support as needed.
