About The Position

Under general supervision, assumes responsibility for the nursing management and evaluation of care provided to patients who participate in the practice of breastfeeding. Functions as a primary care provider in collaboration with physicians and other health team members. Plans, implements and evaluates educational programs related to breast feeding. Requirements

  • Associate Degree from an accredited School of Nursing required
  • 2 years full-time (or equivalent) directly related clinical experience
  • Knowledge of techniques and the application of lactation theory.
  • Skill in written and oral communication
  • Skill in using computers and personal productivity applications
  • Ability to instruct and support patients
  • Ability to assess patients, plan effective interventions and evaluate outcomes from those interventions.
  • Current registration with the Maryland Board of Examiners of Nurses as a Registered Nurse.
  • IBCLC certification required
  • Healthcare Provider CPR biennial
  • Additional certifications (i.e. ACLS, PALS, NRP) for specialty care areas are required upon hire.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to 80% of work time
  • Visual acuity, manual dexterity and physical mobility; hear and communicate orally.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, walking and lifting (Up to 20 lbs).
