Lactation Consultant II – Part Time Days Bring your passion to Texas Health so we are Better + Together Work location: Texas Health Rockwall - 3150 Horizon Rd, Rockwall, TX 75032 Work hours: Part Time, 24 hours weekly, day schedule varies based on needs as (2) 12-hour shifts or (3) 8-hour shifts, self-scheduling, holidays and weekend requirements Training: Must be able to attend training at the corporate office in Arlington 8am-5pm during the first 1-5 days of hire Lactation Services Department Highlights: Supportive team environment and family atmosphere. Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Nursing required or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred
  • 1 year experience as a registered nurse, completion of an RN residency program, or THR residency program required
  • Texas RN - Registered Nurse required upon hire and
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care required upon hire and maintained quarterly
  • NRP - Essential Neonatal Resuscitation Program required within 90 days of hire and
  • IBCLC - Lactation Consultant required within 2 years of hire; strongly preferred upon hire
  • A high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to attend training at the corporate office in Arlington 8am-5pm during the first 1-5 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of Lactation experience strongly preferred; Mother/Baby experience helpful

Responsibilities

  • Functions as an expert resource on breastfeeding issues for patients, families, community, staff, and physicians.
  • Serves as a clinical expert for lactation issues based on evidence.
  • Produces documentation that initiates, follows and revises patients plan of care.
  • Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes that promote continuity of care.
  • Reviews patient medications for potential complications associated with breastfeeding.
  • Assesses outpatients for symptoms of jaundice and breastfeeding problems.
  • Participates in breast pump rental and retail sales within the Breastfeeding Resource Center.
