About The Position
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS: Under immediate supervision, performs common labor work necessary in general maintenance work. Operates any mechanical or power-driven apparatus or equipment essential to the performance of the duties of this position. Performs related duties as required. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Operates a hand lawn mower. Picks up paper. Spades, seeds, waters and rake lawn areas. Sweeps walks and roadway gutters. Digs, waters, rolls and marks with lines softball and baseball diamonds, running tracks, tennis courts and football fields. Cleans catch basins. Removes snow and ice. Spreads sanding materials and makes and maintains ice for skating. Operates special equipment. Loads and unloads trucks. Performs labor work in connection with removing, planting or trimming trees. Digs trenches. Assists in sowing flower beds and performs necessary maintenance works in greenhouses.
Requirements
- Experience in performing manual labor work.
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
- Ability to operate maintenance equipment in a safe an efficient manner.
- Ability to perform manual labor.
- Ability to respond to routine inquiries from the public.
- Valid State of Illinois Driver's License
