PRIMARY FUNCTION: Develop all skills required to perform as a member of the labor crew under the direct supervision of a Laborer Foreman. TYPICAL DUTIES: Works with a labor crew and Laborer Foreman in the reading of roadway plans and drawings; Use and care of hand and power tools; Tasks and installation of Erosion and Sediment Control measures; Tasks involving the Maintenance and Protection of Traffic; Tasks in the receiving and unloading of concrete pipe; Task necessary for asphalt patching and compacting; Labor tasks for road grading; Performs other related duties as directed by the Foreman.

Requirements

  • Educational and experience requirements include: High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Must be able to evaluate information using measurable standards and have a basic competency in math, geometry, volumes, and weights.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally with co-workers and work with others in a positive manner.
  • Ability to read safety rules and instructions in the use and maintenance of equipment and tools.
  • Ability to recognize and use proper hand signals for cranes and other equipment.
  • Must be able to follow specific instructions; work within standards of accuracy; repeat tasks of short duration according to set procedures.
  • Must adhere to all safety regulations and procedures and work harmoniously and cooperatively with others at all times.
