The Impact You’ll Make in this Role The person hired for the position of Test Lab Technician will perform required testing and maintain test records as directed by the Test Lab Supervisor. The candidate will be located in Red Wing Minnesota as well as Cottage Grove Minnesota at the Fall Protection Test Labs. As a Laboratory Test Technician, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: Confers with Test Lab Supervisor or engineering personnel to review test plans such as types and cycles of tests, conditions under which tests are to be conducted, and duration of tests. Tests current product as requested, record test results, and report any findings to the Test Lab Supervisor. Performs necessary testing for certification, validation, quality assurance, and R&D on existing products, modified products, or new product protypes, including for fall protection products globally. Relays test results and test notes to customers as applicable and to Technical Writer. Performs demonstrations or testing for witnesses for tours, audits, training, etc. Participates in applicable regulatory audits. Maintains operation of test equipment. Catalogs and stores test results.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
  • One (1) year experience in a testing lab or experience with fall protection in a private, public, government or military environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards, particularly ISO 17025 and those relating to fall protection
  • Demonstrated practical lab and mechanical skills
  • Experience in a quality or laboratory role
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Self-starter who can effectively work in a fast-paced environment, work through and manage change/ambiguity, and work with an appropriate sense of urgency
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
