About The Position

The Wing Operator is responsible for overseeing the operation and adjustment of equipment, ensuring proper compound application and efficient changeovers. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to operate forklifts, and a focus on maintaining a clean and organized work environment to support high production and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand and power tools.
  • High attention to detail for accurate assembly and inspection of components.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve production issues.
  • Ability to follow written instructions, specifications, and safety procedures.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably with experience in operating machinery or equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with hand and power tools, as well as troubleshooting minor mechanical issues.
  • Understanding of basic production metrics and the ability to maintain efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing or production floor environment.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Must adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor machinery used in the wing manufacturing and assembly process.
  • Remain stationary for extended periods while monitoring the plow, ensuring the compound is applied evenly across all carpet.
  • Observe the wings and make necessary adjustments to maintain optimal performance.
  • Assist with backing changes as required.
  • Operate a forklift to move totes when necessary.
  • Assist with changeovers, including adjustments for different widths.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times.
  • Perform regular inspections of wing components to ensure compliance with quality and industry standards.
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and report production or equipment issues in collaboration with team members and supervisors.
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and product quality.
