About The Position

The Laboratory Technician's work location will be at the Soil Testing Laboratory in Marianna, Arkansas. The Laboratory Technician will work in the laboratory and in the front office/data processing area answering client calls and assisting the lab staff and programmers with the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). The data processing portion of the position requires learning the LIMS and the use of Excel, Word, and Outlook to organize and manage data and metadata, solve problems, track inventory, interface with computer programmers, communicate with other laboratory employees about problems and data, and assist clients with accounts, sample log-in, and accessing data reports. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential since this position will regularly communicate with clients. The laboratory tasks may include scooping soil, washing glassware, adding extracting solution to soil samples, operating various analytical instruments, and other lab duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma, plus two years of work experience or education involving laboratory testing, set up, and operation of laboratory equipment, and lab record maintenance.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in using office technology and analytical laboratory information management systems setting including medium to advanced computer skills, problem-solving skills, and knowledge of lab and chemical safety.
