In this role, you will: Support experimental studies and technical activities related to the extraction and characterization of coproducts from biomass and natural materials. Advance research within coproduct extracts that promote the development of sustainable tissue and nonwoven products. Demonstrate proficiency with laboratory sample management, analytical testing methods, and bench top equipment set up. Possess a strong grasp of scientific and engineering principles relevant to laboratory experimentation, process troubleshooting, and data analysis in biomass coproducts. Organize tasks, manage timelines, and maintain flexibility in response to changing project directions. Possess strong communication and teamwork skills, with a track record of working effectively with cross-functional colleagues and partners. Maintain a high commitment to laboratory safety and familiarity with safe work practices specific to chemical and biomass processing environments. In one of our lab technician roles, you’ll focus on winning with consumers and the market, while putting safety, mutual respect, and human dignity at the center. To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications: 3+ years of hands-on experience in a laboratory or pilot-plant technical environment. Support scientists and engineers in experimental studies focused on extracting coproducts (e.g., lignin, hemicellulose, bioactive components) from natural sources, including sample preparation, process support, and documentation. Manage sampling activities for coproduct extraction trials, encompassing sample collection, labeling, tracking, storage, and preparation for analysis. Operate, calibrate, and maintain analytical laboratory equipment for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of coproduct extracts. Execute and support lab-scale separation technologies—including filtration, membrane separation, centrifugation, and extraction processes—to isolate, concentrate, and purify coproducts according to established protocols. Assist with designing and planning experimental setups for coproduct extraction, troubleshooting process variables, and optimizing experimental conditions. Systematically document all procedures, observations, and results in laboratory notebooks and digital records for reproducibility and compliance. Help prepare technical reports, trial summaries, and presentations on coproduct extraction outcomes for internal teams and business stakeholders. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including chemists, materials scientists, product developers, and external research partners to enable innovative, sustainability-focused coproduct applications. Support safe laboratory and pilot plant operations, adhering strictly to safety protocols and participating in risk assessments for coproduct extraction processes. Adapt efficiently to multiple ongoing projects and shifting priorities in a fast-paced research setting.
