The Laboratory Technician, Algal Culture Collection will be responsible for supporting the efforts of the McKindles lab in the College of Arts & Sciences’ Department of Biology. In particular, we are seeking a laboratory technician to assist with the establishment of an Algal Culture Collection and aid in research on aquatic microbial ecology. Primary responsibilities will center on managing the Algal Culture Collection. The successful candidate should have lab experience in microbial culturing, including media preparation, sterile technique, and microscopy. The candidate must be a self-starter and work well in a team environment. Field work may be possible if desired but is not a requirement for this position. Knowledge and/or interest in cyanobacteria and biofuel relevant algae is a plus. A successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse research team, lead project design and methods development, as well as assist with publications and presentations. The position is temporary, full-time. The qualified applicant must have a bachelor’s degree in Biology or a related field. Master’s degree preferred in a Biology related field. An active Christian faith is required.
