Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in CLS or MT
  • 6+ years of laboratory experience
  • 3+ years in a Technical Consultant role
  • ASCP or AMT certification
  • Strong knowledge of CLIA and regulatory standards

Nice To Haves

  • Core Technical & Scientific Skills Test methodology selection and validation Quality Control (QC) & Quality Assurance (QA) Troubleshooting & corrective action Non‑waived testing expertise
  • Regulatory & Compliance Skills CLIA regulations mastery Deep understanding of 42 CFR Part 493 Accreditation readiness (CAP, Joint Commission, COLA) Ability to interpret standards, prepare documentation, and support labs during inspections and audits. Documentation & record review Maintaining and reviewing SOPs, validation records, QC logs, PT, and competency assessments for compliance.
  • Personnel & Training Skills Competency assessment Evaluating testing personnel at required intervals (initial, 6 months, 12 months, annually, and with method changes). Staff training & education Identifying training needs, delivering in‑service education, and ensuring staff are qualified before reporting patient results. Clear technical communication Explaining complex laboratory issues clearly to laboratorians, nurses, physicians, administrators, and inspectors.
  • Consulting & Professional Skills (Highly Preferred) Independent judgment & consulting mindset Ability to provide objective guidance, often across multiple labs, POCT programs, or healthcare settings. Time management & accessibility
