About The Position

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Laboratory Support Specialist for the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) department within the School of Engineering. This position reports to the ECE Department Administrator Supervisor. Among the key duties of the position are the following: Maintains department electronic components and capstone inventory. Assists with instructional equipment purchasing and installation. Completes NJ Right-To-Know chemical inventory and training compliance. Assists other faculty/labs with REHS safety audits and equipment audits. Arranges REHS safety training to students and faculty. Assists new faculty with their lab setups. Maintains physical key requests and submits swipe access requests to SOE. Completes space surveys and equipment audit reports. Enters obsolete equipment in the surplus property system for removal from the department. Assists with the disposal of old exam/quiz/reports. Supports the technical needs of our faculty and students. Assists faculty in coordinating departmental exhibits for Laboratory tours, Capstone Expo, Rutgers Day, and Engineering Open House. Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Tektronix and Keysight test software, PSpice, PCB design, Matlab, and Labview.
