Position Summary The role of the Laboratory Supervisor reports to the Assistant Laboratory Director. This position is responsible for serving as a liaison for internal and external clients. This position will oversee testing processes and personnel while ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science or Clinical Laboratory Science program, required.
  • ASCP, AMT or equivalent certification, required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant medical laboratory experience and meets qualifications of a Technical Supervisor of laboratories performing high complexity testing in accordance with CLIA'88 regulations, required.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 2 years of medical laboratory leadership experience is preferred.
  • Previous experience in regulatory compliance and accreditation standards of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), The Joint Commission (TJC) and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).

Responsibilities

  • Provide resolution for issues through various means of consultation including telephone calls, onsite, and electronically
  • Maintain departmental documentation requirements for test performance characteristics
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including participation in proficiency testing, quality control management, training, and competency evaluations of testing personnel
  • Proactive in identifying potential problems, able to troubleshoot situations quickly with a resolution and provide direction to staff as needed
  • Assist with creating and implementing policies, procedures, and documentation, as appropriate
  • Partner with department educator to provide education and training strategies to staff
  • Assist in the design and implementation of performance improvement projects, monitor progress, and perform corrective actions
  • Assist in monitoring budget related processes
  • Assist with day-to-day department operations
  • Remain available to all staff, seeking opportunities to become actively involved, lend support, address problems, and suggest areas of improvement
