About The Position

The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for overseeing both the Quality Control (QC) and Technical Services functions at the facility. This role ensures that all laboratory operations, product testing, and customer support activities meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, and technical excellence. The Laboratory Supervisor will lead teams in both QC and Technical Services, supporting product performance, quality control, customer applications and support, and internal training. Primary responsibilities include: Quality Control (QC): Oversee all QC laboratory operations and personnel, ensuring compliance with internal and external quality standards. Develop, implement, and maintain QC protocols for raw material testing, in-process samples, and finished product testing. Ensure ongoing compliance with ISO 9001 standards and maintain the facility’s certification through regular audits, documentation, and process improvements. Review and approve QC data, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting. Coordinate investigations of non-conformances, deviations, and customer complaints related to product quality. Perform root cause analysis, initiate corrective actions and verification processes for investigations and audit findings. Provide operations with timely material acceptance/rejection decisions, technical assistance during the manufacture of new products and/or resolution of manufacturing/quality problems. Lead customer and quality-related audits. Technical Services: Develop and implement performance test methods for finished products and customer-supplied systems. Conduct on-site product evaluations and technical support at customer facilities. Perform testing on customer's media and provide product recommendations tailored to the identified issue. Coordinate the transfer of efficacy and performance data to customers and internal stakeholders. Provide technical expertise and training to sales, customer service, and other internal teams. Manage customer sample requests and ensure timely processing. Assist in product quality investigations relating to non-conforming product. General Management: Enforce proper laboratory safety by serving as the Chemical Hygiene Officer. Direct laboratory operations, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency. Lead, mentor, and develop staff in both QC and Technical Services teams. Supervise lab personnel, including but not limited to training, scheduling, coaching, communicating job expectations, appraising job performance and adhering to policies. Monitor calibration and PM requirements of all laboratory instruments. Ensure appropriate coverage of laboratory. Maintain adequate inventory of laboratory supplies and ensure proper equipment maintenance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, R&D, Sales) to support business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field (required).
  • Minimum of 2 years of management experience in QC, Technical Services, or a related laboratory environment.
  • Experience in chemical manufacturing, product testing, and quality systems preferred.
  • Strong understanding of chemical product performance, application, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in data analysis, technical documentation, and laboratory management.
  • Customer-focused with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to travel for on-site evaluations and customer support.

  • Participate in RCRA, regulatory, health & safety and process training activities as required. Review changes/additions with your supervisor.
  • Regular attendance is essential.
  • Perform all duties outlined in relevant SOPs and all other duties to be assigned.
  • Work with other staff members to maintain workload balances. Provide back-up support as necessary.
  • Support effective communication with all Hydrite departments where responsibilities overlap to ensure success of the branch team.
