About The Position

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Laboratory Facilities Specialist for University Facilities and Capital Planning. The Laboratory Facilities Specialist works under the direction of the Project Manager Supervisor. Among the key duties of the position are the following: Facilitates the maintenance and installation of departmental equipment and coordinating the general maintenance of the Food Science and Nutritional Science complex. Supports department chairs across SEBS/NJAES New Brunswick, Cook Campus, as well as faculty, staff, and students in the mechanical and operational aspects of their research labs. Maintains records of work performed and materials used for invoicing and inventory control. Documents maintenance activities and ensures that work is carried out efficiently while addressing any labs safety concerns. Ensures work aligns with the mission, vision, role, and goals of the organization. Performs professional- level tasks requiring knowledge and application of relevant concepts, theories, and industry standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Outstanding customer service and leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of management.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and coordinate work to meet customer's needs.
  • Ability to demonstrate problem-solving and investigative skills.
  • Ability to visibly inspect multiple SEBS/NJAES locations across the Cook campus.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 Lbs. boxes.

Nice To Haves

  • Environmental Health and Safety Knowledge.
  • Ability to create Excel/Word documents and utilize other project management software.
  • Commercial Driver's License "C" (CDL) with Passenger endorsement.
