About The Position

WSP is currently initiating a search for Laboratory Client Services Support in West Palm Beach, Florida for our Earth and Environment Business Line. This position will be embedded full-time at a client’s office located in West Palm Beach in their chemistry laboratory. As a contract-dedicated person, you will assist with laboratory client support services, project management functions, and data validation for various projects. Candidates must have a willingness and interest in learning laboratory client support services and be able to positively interact, communicate, and collaborate with a variety of client laboratory staff at varying levels. Your Impact Work at the direction of WSP’s laboratory client on a variety of projects, to address their needs, achieve their goals, and meet their success criteria. Coordinate sampling events, prepare bottles and labels, and complete various functions in the client’s Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) to ensure samples are appropriately logged in and processed. Assist/guide study scientists and Quality Assurance (QA)/Field Project Managers in preparing chain-of-custody (electronic COC) and sampling kits (sampling containers, filters, labels, and COCs). Train research personnel, including contractors, on sample submission protocols. Perform data validation reviews to determine the quality of data based on data quality objectives and standard data review criteria and apply standard qualifiers as needed. Prepare report narratives identifying process and/or quality issues following established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Coordinate with client Laboratory Manager and study scientists to initiate resolution of issues related to sample submission and QA issues. Coordinate with the client and your WSP Project Manager in a confident and professional manner. Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific laboratory procedures. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Self-manage assigned workload.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree (i.e., Associate of Arts [AA] or Associate of Science [AS]).
  • 2 years of experience in coordinating laboratory projects or working in a laboratory.
  • Experience with LIMS (preferred).
  • Experience in environmental laboratory QA/Quality Control (QC) protocols and requirements.
  • Knowledge of and experience in environmental data review processes.
  • Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Willingness to perform a variety of tasks for our client as needed to complete an assignment and satisfy project needs.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, and ability to express ideas effectively and professionally.
  • Strong work ethic to ensure job requirements are completed (safety first).
  • Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet client objectives.
  • Basic proficiency with general office software (i.e., MS Word and Excel, and PowerPoint), spreadsheets, technology, and tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, environmental science, the natural sciences (e.g., biology, ecology, marine biology, etc.), the physical sciences (geology), or an equivalent field of study is considered a plus.
