About The Position

The Laboratory Benchman 2nd (LBII) is responsible for collecting and analyzing bench sample points.  In order to do this, the LBII must understand and demonstrate knowledge of gathering samples at the correct sample points; locating and collecting samples from the rope; preparing and analyzing samples; and writing down and entering data into the computer system.  The LBII must have general knowledge of laboratory procedures, analysis, and analytical instruments including, but not limited to:  polarimeters, refractometers, spectrophotometers, PH probes, conductivity meters, moisture analyzers, and titrators.  The LBII is responsible for supporting the master sanitation schedule by completing cleaning responsibilities on a daily, weekly, monthly, or as-needed basis.   Basic laboratory aptitude is required with the ability to analyze data points to spot anomalies, retest samples as necessary, and communicate samples outside of analysis trends to the foreman, supervisors, and crew leaders.  Attention to detail is vital in this role, and the LBII must have basic computer skills, including the ability to accurately enter data points. The Laboratory Benchman 2nd must be able to: promote safe work behaviors, commit to environmental compliance, food safety, food quality compliance, and promote SMBSC as an Employer of Choice by ensuring a work area that promotes mutual respect and professionalism.  This position must have knowledge of wet chemistry, safe operating procedures, personal protective equipment, and quality standards, and must complete all necessary training and Job Safety Analyses to operate equipment or perform the position tasks. Must be able to work 12 hour shifts Performs other duties as directed and works overtime.

Requirements
