About The Position

The Laboratory Assistant works under the supervision of the Director of Laboratory Services, Assistant Director, or Supervising Clinical Laboratory Scientists. This role involves performing venipunctures on adults and pediatrics, as well as micro collections on infants. Key responsibilities also include data entry, specimen processing, and communicating with clients to resolve specimen concerns. The assistant is expected to perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Proficiency in phlebotomy techniques and medical/laboratory terminology
• Ability to operate computer input terminal
• Ability to perform phlebotomy techniques including special procedures such as blood cultures, finger and heel sticks
• Communication skills to include fluent English
• Typing and word processing skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Current California CPT (Certified Phlebotomy Technician) certificate
• BLS required

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalency
• Two year acute care hospital laboratory experience
• One to two (1-2) years experience assisting in performing laboratory assays

Responsibilities
