About The Position

Element has an opportunity for a Laboratory Assistant to join our rapidly expanding team in Fort Wayne IN . As a member of the administrative department at our Environmental Testing Laboratory in Fort Wayne, IN, the Laboratory Assistant position performs a variety of routine and non-routine assignments within the department to ensure timely and accurate testing is performed.  The Laboratory Assistant position must be proficient in several core business skills including but not limited to compliance with established safety rules, code of conduct, and company policies and procedures.

Requirements

Working knowledge of laboratory safety
HS diploma or GED certificate preferred. College or vocational school coursework welcomed
0-2 years’ experience in a testing related field
Basic understanding of testing concepts
Possess computer skills.
Able to develop a proven ability to set up and perform a variety of tests according to customer specifications under the supervision and technical input of Senior/Principal
Lifting requirements: lifting <50 lbs. often and > 50 lbs. on occasion
Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
Ability to lift 50+lbs periodically

Responsibilities

Receive samples at the laboratory
Inspect Chains of Custody and associated documentation for accuracy and completion
Log samples into the Laboratory Information Management System
Prepare sample bottles and testing kits for pickup, delivery, or shipment
Package samples for subcontracting and shipment
Operate under the supervision of a senior Department Supervisor
